Sari Fordham is a professor, writer, and environmental activist. Her memoir Wait for God to Notice narrates her childhood in Uganda during and after the dictatorship of Idi Amin. She grew up surrounded by a small, vibrant jungle, but the last time she returned, the trees were gone. Since she has lived in Uganda, 40 percent of the nation’s trees have been cut down and Ugandans are fighting to save what’s left. Sari believes we all want to make meaningful change, but aren’t sure where to begin. She is the author of the monthly newsletter, Cool It: Simple Steps to Save the Planet.
