Check out Tom Langemo’s blog on the Art of Possibility!

Here’s some background in the form of a blog informing us what drives Coach Tom Langemo around “The Art of Possibility”.  You had a taste of this “art” at the First Third event on confirmation.  My challenge for all of us around the “art of possibility” is to remind us that faith is not ultimately secured by human effort.  Tom paints a picture of this process in his blog:

“It’s so easy to be caught up in the notes…to hunch over, both buttocks planted firmly to the bench, hands plunking each note out according to what’s written on the page; so easy, but so debilitating! It takes a bit more courage…but is so much more rewarding…to sit up, expand the chest, relax the shoulders, and explore the notes as many parts of a larger story being told on the page…one buttock at a time.”

What informs your “art of possibility?”   Kenda Creasy Dean informs our possibility so beautifully in her book Almost Christian:  “Cultural tools can provide support beams for, but not the content of, consequential faith.  Christians believe that faith depends on the electrifying presence of the Holy Spirit, who gives cultural tools their holy momentum.”  (page 62)

So may we send our roots deep down into the art of possibility that depends on the “electrifying presence of the Holy Spirit.” Lean into this Holy Spirit momentum in your “game-playing.”
