Shamika is a person who is passionate about people and technology! She was born and raised in San Antonio, TX, and is the oldest of four children. After graduating from Stanford University with a degree in African and African-American studies, she served a year with AmeriCorps in New York City. She went on to study technology and ethics by developing technowomanism at Union Theological Seminary in the city of New York for her Master of Divinity. There, she also created and developed the concept of a Tech Chaplain. She currently attends CU Boulder as a doctoral student in their Information Science department and is studying technology, ethics, and social justice issues. She has also launched the Tech Chaplaincy Institute to serve faith communities who are open and affirming, social justice-oriented, progressive as well as mission-driven organizations with their everyday tech needs.

    Ryan Panzer is the author of Grace and Gigabytes: Being Church in a Tech-Shaped Culture (Fortress Press, December 2020). Having worked for technology companies like Google and Zendesk while attending seminary and serving in ministry contexts, Ryan researches and writes about ministry in a digital age. As a coach and consultant, Ryan equips communities of faith to live into their mission by integrating digital technology in their ministry. He lives in Madison, WI.
