Resources for prayer

In the wake of rioters attacking the Capital on January 6 and amid rising numbers of the coronavirus pandemic, we continue to turn to prayer to sustain our work for justice and to seek God to mend our broken spirits.

In times of crisis and trauma, I am especially grateful for already written prayers. This prayer from Evangelical Lutheran Worship is a powerful source to turn to as we lead our churches, communities, and ourselves.

Eternal God, amid all the turmoil and changes of the world your love is steadfast and your strength never fails. In this time of danger and trouble, be to us a sure guardian and rock of defense. Guide the leaders of our nation with your wisdom, comfort those in distress, and grant us courage and hope to face the future; through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. Amen.
